Statement on Supreme Court Ruling

Open Labour reaffirms our support for the trans community in light of today’s Supreme Court ruling.

Today’s Supreme Court ruling will make the lives of the Trans community more difficult and is a backward step on the road to full equality.

Open Labour continues to stand with the trans people and will raise our voices at every opportunity to make the case for greater trans rights.

The global assault of the populist right on trans people whether the recent banning of Pride in Hungary, the placement of Trans Women in isolation in US Prisons or countless examples from autocracies cannot be allowed to be replicated in the United Kingdom.

We will continue to stand as allies to the trans community. No court ruling will stop us saying that ‘Trans women are women’.
